Theodore H. Epp (1907–1985) was a prominent American Christian minister, author, and radio broadcaster, best known as the founder and longtime speaker of the radio program Back to the Bible. Born on January 27, 1907, in Oraibi, Arizona Territory, to Mennonite missionary parents, Epp developed a deep commitment to faith and Scripture from an early age.
He studied at Hesston College, the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (now Biola University), and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1939, he launched Back to the Bible in Lincoln, Nebraska, which grew into an international ministry through radio broadcasts, publications, and Bible teaching. Epp’s messages were known for their clear, expository style, emphasizing biblical accuracy and personal faith in Christ.
He authored more than 70 books and booklets and remained active in ministry until his retirement in 1985, shortly before his death that same year. His legacy continues through the ongoing work of the Back to the Bible ministry.
