Leonard Ravenhill (1907–1994) was a British-born evangelist and author best known for his fiery messages on revival, holiness, and prayer. Born in Leeds, England, he was deeply influenced by the 1904–1905 Welsh Revival and later studied at Cliff College, where he was mentored by Samuel Chadwick. Ravenhill became a leading voice in mid-20th-century evangelicalism, particularly through his preaching and his seminal book Why Revival Tarries (1959), which called for deep repentance and fervent prayer among Christians. Moving to the United States later in life, he mentored young ministers, including Keith Green, and influenced many through sermons that emphasized the urgency of spiritual awakening. Ravenhill’s messages continue to inspire Christians seeking deeper intimacy with God and revival in their churches.
