John Piper is a Reformed Baptist theologian, pastor, and author, best known for his work in Christian preaching and writing. Born on January 11, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he grew up in a Christian home and later earned degrees from Wheaton College, Fuller Theological Seminary, and the University of Munich.
Piper served as the senior pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from 1980 to 2013. During his ministry, he became a leading voice in evangelical circles through his emphasis on the sovereignty of God and a concept he calls “Christian Hedonism”—the idea that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.
