Jack Hayford (1934–2023) was an American pastor, author, and influential Pentecostal leader best known as the founding pastor of The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California, and as the author of the popular worship song “Majesty.” Born on June 25, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, Hayford was deeply involved in ministry through the Foursquare Church. Under his leadership, The Church On The Way grew into one of the most prominent churches in the U.S. during the 1970s and 1980s.
He served as president of The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel from 2004 to 2009 and also founded The King’s University in Southlake, Texas, training future church leaders. Widely respected across denominational lines, Hayford emphasized Spirit-filled worship, biblical teaching, and the unity of the church. He passed away on January 8, 2023, leaving a lasting legacy in Christian worship and leadership.
