Eugene H. Peterson (1932–2018) was an American pastor, theologian, and author, best known for his contemporary Bible paraphrase, The Message. He served as a Presbyterian pastor for nearly 30 years before becoming a professor of spiritual theology. Peterson wrote more than 30 books on Christian spirituality, emphasizing the importance of faithful, lived discipleship over religious performance. His work has had a lasting influence on pastors and laypeople alike.
