David Platt is an American pastor, author, and speaker known for his passionate preaching and commitment to global missions. Born in 1979 in Atlanta, Georgia, Platt became the youngest megachurch pastor in the United States when he took the lead at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2006. He gained national recognition with his bestselling book Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream (2010), which challenged Christians to live sacrificially for the sake of the gospel. Platt served as president of the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2014 to 2018, focusing on mobilizing churches for international missions. After stepping down from the IMB, he became lead pastor of McLean Bible Church in Virginia.
